Thunderbolt adapters are supported on the following Mac computers:

  1. Hello, I just recently purchased a 2011 Macbook Air 11' and 13' from my Grandma (were my Grandpa's but he passed away). I just ran out to Best Buy and bought the Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter so I can connect my Air to our network at work, but it is not displaying in the Network settings.
  2. Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,923. Get it as soon as Fri, Oct 9. FREE Shipping by Amazon. More Buying Choices $17.97 (4 used & new offers).
  3. SSDs - Experience the true speed of your Mac or PC with lightening fast OWC Solid State Drives Internal Hard Drives - Internal storage upgrades for 2.5', 3.5', SATA and IDE/ATA External Hard Drives - External hard drive upgrades covering all your storage needs.

I have a Retina MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and Boot Camp with Windows 7 and the Boot Camp 4.0 drivers. I'm also using the Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter. My problem is that my ethernet port (aka wired connection) is not available in Windows' Control Panel Network & Internet Network Connections. Only Bluetooth and Wireless are available. So your adapter has its own MAC address, as does the the network interface in a Thunderbolt display, and the Wi-Fi in your MacBook Air. Different Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapters will have different MAC addresses, but moving one between different ports won't change it. You can view the MAC address of any network interface attached to your Mac.
